Henry Steel Olcott Anusmarana Dhamma Day 2026: Honouring a Timeless Legacy
ඔබ සැමට තෙරුවන් සරනයි 🙏🏽
On Sunday, 15th February 2026, the Old Nalandians’ Association of Australia came together at Ripplebrook Temple to commemorate Colonel Henry Steel Olcott, a legend who stood for our faith, our education, and our identity. The Anusmarana Dhamma Day was a morning of remembrance, gratitude, and reflection on a life that shaped Buddhist revival and education in Sri Lanka and beyond.
A Morning of Dana and Reflection
From 10.00 AM, devotees and well-wishers joined the Maha Sangha for the Anusmarana Dahawal Dana. The offering of alms, the chanting of pirith, and the quiet reflection that followed set a tone of unity, respect, and mindfulness that carried through the whole morning.
Remembering Colonel Olcott
Nalanda College stands on the foundation Colonel Olcott laid for Buddhist education in Sri Lanka. Gathering as Nalandians in Melbourne to honour his memory was a reminder of how far that legacy has travelled, and of our responsibility to carry it forward for the next generation.
Thank You
Our sincere gratitude to the Venerable Maha Sangha of Ripplebrook Temple, to everyone who contributed to the dana, and to every Nalandian, family, and friend who took the time to be part of the morning. Special thanks to Indika and the organising team for bringing it all together.
